Phillies Parade and Halloween

Aww, come on ~ you're not tired of seeing Phillies pictures yet, are ya???? Wander with me for awhile longer. It was the greatest day Philadelphia and Phillies fans have had in a LONG time!!!!

I called my son out of school bright and early Friday morning. We caught the bus about 3 blocks from our house and 20 mins. later we were there!!!! Right there, front and center, near the beginning of the parade route! I called hub to say we had arrived. He's a foreman in the construction biz and works right across the street from where we were sitting.

This is the 48 story building he's been working in for awhile now. Do you want to go in on a unit with me so we can have primo views of the City at all times? It'll only set ya back a few million.

So we waited..... and waited.....

To get a good spot we were there 5 hours ahead of time. Not much to do except look around. I did go to Suburban Station and get some food and hot drinks for us in the morning, and later some hot oatmeal for my son. He had to save our seats. It was getting CROWDED!

But it was a real nice view. Philadelphia's City Hall was right there!



Eventually, the confetti started to rain down.

The excitement was building, the crowds grew even LARGER. People were at their office windows with signs. Nearby rooftops began to fill with fans!

There were ALOT of police on scene to watch over the crowd, keep the peace, and generally just make the City look GOOD. Yeah, I got in some trouble for taking a few pictures of Officer McC. lol But HELLO, this was our VIEW for awhile. Do you blame me???

OOOHHH, here comes the parade!!!

It was a great parade! So much good energy. My hubby was yelling 'thank you, thank you' to one of the players on a float that was going by and the guy just pointed back at him and yelled 'thank YOU, thank YOU'.

For all the people in the City that day, we really didn't have any problems. Sure, the crowds were huge and when the parade passed and everyone started to go in different directions it took a little while to get some personal space again. But eventually we found ourselves a couple blocks away and stopped at a store where there was a chinese type buffet inside. Upstairs the walls were painted this wild lime green color but we got a table right away and then watched more of the parade on their big screen t.v. It was nice to sit and rest a bit.

Then we headed back to hubby's truck so we could go home. I've always liked this building by his job site.

Of course traffic was heavy! But it only took maybe a half and hour or so to get out of the main part of the City.

A bronze sculpture called Freedom is at 16th and Vine.

When we got back home, the final ceremony of the parade was on t.v. so we HAD to watch that!!

missed going to Philly and some of the activities because my sweet little grandson, you know, ALEXANDER THE GREAT, had to get ready to go trick-or-treating and visiting other family.

That boy is FAST!!!! I can hardly catch him sometimes for a picture.



He seems to like chocolate. Hey, he is MIMI'S grandson afterall. Of course he likes chocolate!!!!!! But it's his Mommy who gets to clean him all up and then deal with the choco high!! LOL
