A January ramble

Hello my old blogging friends!
I feel sad sometimes knowing I've not been able to keep current here. 😢
Mostly, my concentration just hasn’t been all that great.  The time it takes me to compose a blog post is ridiculous.  I’ve attempted 3x since last summer!   And this one where I’m super determined to make work…whew… type, erase, add, subtract.  Then a bit of worry over composition, punctuation, erase, think think, add, delete, etc.  So it’s not that I don’t have anything to say, oh, that would be a shocking and weird day right!? 😆  It all just becomes too jumbled.

I am actually on Facebook very often.  FB is a bit different though.  Posts are much shorter and pictures and albums are easier to share.  Blogger acts up a lot… comments are glitchy and difficult to leave on various blogs and photos can be a challenge too.  Also, many blogs are quite wordy.  I know that I could post a hello, a meme, a few photos with basic descriptions, more like I do on FB, but if I’m here for connection with others then I’d need to read/comment on what you’re all posting and it’s a lot of content sometimes.  I admire everyone who is able to do it!!  It’s just harder for me to follow these days.
Maybe it’s a brain issue.  (Kinda still blaming menopause. 😏)  I used to read books frequently, but can’t tell you how long it’s been now since one has been finished.  Years!!!  Even articles are challenging at times.
I’m not forgetting family or putting my car keys in the freezer, so probably not anything too serious, but still frustrating because some of you do actually pop into my mind!!   Definitely did enjoy reading all the things over many years… vacations, local histories, adventures in your cities, food, family stories, etc. so it does bother me that I can’t remain connected to you all more consistently now.
Will keep trying though!!  Even if it’s just one post here and there.
Don’t completely give up on me, ok!?

Since I always shared photos, here's one of Luna snuggled in after a hectic Christmas!  That tree behind the couch is actually still up and lit right now.  It might get put away before the end of the month, but it's been so cold and a bit snowy so the glow in dreary January is kinda nice.

Hope you're all doing well.  Good wishes for 2025!

  1. Hi Mary! When I saw your comment on my blog, I was hoping you'd post. That tree looks very pretty and is nice and cozy for all this cold weather we are having. I understand about not posting. I try to post twice a month and it's photo heavy, where I can just write captions. But yes, sometimes it takes me hours just to do one post. I do miss not seeing you in Bloggerville, so I hope you'll peek in now and again. XO

  2. Welcome Back Mary and Happy New Year as well. It was so nice to read a new post or yours and but thanks for your comment on my own, wqhich led me here today! I understand completely about finding it difficult to post often and wonder how some others do it not only daily but several times daily. My blog posting is no more than 2-3 times a week, usually 2 as I sometimes get quite involved and it takes time as I like to include background, history, trivia, etc, possibly more info than folks need to know. I hope you will occasionally pop back into blog-land. I do not do any other social media myself.

    1. Thanks, Dorothy! I have 2 Instagram pages (one personal, one for art) but never really posted very much and mostly the people I knew there were on FB. I just joined Bluesky, I think it's like Twitter/nowX but I was never on them so doubt I'll post much.
I will try to do better with my connections here in Blogland!

  3. Hellooooooooo there, Mary! I was so happy to see your post listed on my reader this morning!

You're right, Blogger acts up a lot. And especially the past two years. It's kind of sad too, because it seems like they simply no longer care that we're having issues. I sometimes feel they'll eventually just do away with Blogger, much like so many Google apps.

I don't post as much as I used to either. I used to post THREE times a week. Now, it's more like once a week, or every other week. However, I will say that blogging remains by favorite way to connect to people and express myself. I guess you could call me a 'diehard blogger.'

LOVE the phot you shared. So cute and cozy. Your tree is fabulous!

Have a grrrrrreat weekend, my friend! And Happy New Year! X

    1. Thanks, Ron! You know I used to love blogging and am hopeful that I can get back to it just a bit more often than maybe once a year. LOL I don't share my blog info on FB so if family/friends/neighbors who do follow me there know about my page here, they were only lurkers. Quite frankly, I don't want them to read my posts here.
