We get awesome fruit and veggies in New Jersey in the summer! We've been blueberry picking twice, the first time for about 17 lbs., the second time about 9 lbs. and last weekend at another farm we brought home about 25 lbs. of cherries. They had sour, white and bing. And we got a few lbs. of peaches too.
You can also do a little wine tasting there too! I bought a bottle of their blush and another of apple. Mmmm.
The goats were cute. My girlfriend fed them some cherries and one of them would eat the fruit part and spit out the pits.

In addition to just eating handfuls of blueberries every time we go into the kitchen, and putting them in cereal, I made muffins and a cobbler and used alot of assorted fruit for Sangria that we were taking to a holiday party. We only have a small container left now so it looks like we'll be back at the farm sometime next week.

Those cherries look increadible. Nothing like picking fruit right from the source.
ReplyDeleteWhen my family moved to Florida...the firs thing we said was, "GOD...there is NOTHING like Jersey tomato's!!!"
ReplyDeleteThe tomato's in Florida, have the consistancy of a tennis ball!
The GOATS are so precious, M!
BAAAH....BAAAH!
I am SO inviting myself to your place for food. Yum!
ReplyDeleteJeff, we called the farm to go back the other day and all the trees are done for the season. Boooo Hoooo
ReplyDeleteRon, we don't have it all, but Jersey certainly has a decent selection of fresh produce. And Hammonton is the Blueberry Capitol isn't it?? We sure have eaten enough of them this season that we're taking on a lavender glow!!! Not that that is a bad thing.
Jules, we have atleast one really kick ass party each year. You'de love the food. :)
